Arts Alliance Again Serves as a Regranter for MCACA's Minigrant Program.

The Minigrant program is a grants-giving partnership funded by the State of Michigan through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) and administered by agencies in each region of the state.

Minigrants provide up to $4,000 for locally developed, high quality arts and cultural projects, which are special opportunities to address local arts and cultural needs and increase public access to arts and culture. Please visit our Minigrant page for more information.

New Website & New URL coming!

The Arts Alliance is currently building a new online portal for all things relating to arts and culture in Washtenaw County. This new website – www.a3arts.org (Ann Arbor Area Arts) – will include comprehensive information about artists, venues, organizations, and events, as well as allow users to actively participate and get involved in the site. Please stay tuned for updates on the process and look for future announcements about upcoming educational opportunities for the new website. The site is expected to be available in early 2010.

Local Candidates’ Survey – Opinions on arts and culture
The Arts Alliance has contacted all candidates running for elected office in Washtenaw County to obtain their views on arts and culture in this region. All responses (and lack thereof) are listed in the 2009 Candidates’ Survey.

From Rust Belt to Artist Belt

Recently, Justin Fenwick of The Arts Alliance and Milan artist Leslie Sobel attended the From Rust Belt to Artist Belt II conference in Cleveland, OH. The conference covered the industrial Midwest’s unique mix of assets to reimagine the “Rust Belt” as the Artist Belt. Washtenaw County Cultural Plan Update

Although things have been quiet, lots has been happening on the cultural plan.
1. County-wide Web Portal: We'll be moving forward very shortly with designing the website. Stay tuned for future updates.
2. Customized Cultural Working Plans: The customized cultural plans for Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester, Milan, Saline & Ypsilanti) are completed! The Saline plan is now available. Stay tuned for more information about the Ann Arbor customized plan. To view each plan, click here.
